E. Scott Wood was appointed City Manager by the Mayor and Council of the City of Canton in 2009. As Chief Administrative Officer of the city he is responsible for the daily management and administration of all city departments, with policy oversight from and accountability to the Mayor and Council.
Mr. Wood has previously served as County Manager of Bulloch County (Statesboro), Georgia and as City Manager of Milledgeville, Georgia. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from Mercer University and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Georgia Southern University. He has served as an adjunct instructor in various public administration topics at the University of Georgia and Georgia College and State University. He has visited China on numerous occasions on behalf of the Carl Vinson Institute of Government, working with provincial and local Chinese government officials in better understanding U.S. local government management systems and techniques.
Mr. Wood is active in the Georgia Municipal Association and the International City and County Managers Association.
